During my NYSC, I worked as an accountant for a cocoa merchant.

A few months in, my boss offered me a full-time job, but I declined.

Shortly after I resumed, he told me there had been persistent theft in the cocoa store and asked me to investigate.

In his words: “Abi no be wetin accountant suppose sabi do?”

I went through the records, reconciled the store activities, and eventually uncovered inconsistencies in the accounts. The numbers didn’t add up, and the evidence pointed to the two storekeepers. They have been stealing a lot.

I reported my findings to my boss, expecting him to handle it discreetly.

Instead, the next morning, he called everyone into a meeting and said:

“Corper Kunle, oya tell it to their face.”

That was one of the most uncomfortable moments of my entire NYSC year. I honestly wasn’t prepared for that.

Bottom line is Christianity requires me to make some intellectual compromises that I just cannot make, that’s why I left.
Now this is just ONE part of a whole list of irreconcilables that I found in the Bible, I’ll keep em coming.
