We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Chris Garrett, known to many as "Swampy" @Swampy_EOD_Ukr

Our team had the honour of meeting and spending time with him in Ukraine - a man who gave up everything to help clear mines and make this country safer for civilians and defenders alike. He arrived shortly after the full-scale invasion and never stopped putting himself in danger to protect others.

People like Chris remind us what true solidarity looks like. He wasn’t Ukrainian by birth, but his heart and courage made him one of us.

We will never forget his kindness, humour, and commitment.

Rest in peace, Chris. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten. 🕯️🫡

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post. One in which I hoped I would never have to write. This war has taken some of the best of Ukraine, but now it has taken one of the best from Canada. Hrulf of the @NormandeBrigade, has fallen in battle.

Those that knew him, knew he was a man of virtue that is rarely seen in this modern era we live. Those that have not had the honour - Hrulf was a man of integrity, courage, fortitude and humility. He left his homeland to sacrifice his life for Ukraine, democracy and freedom. He made us proud to be Canadian.

A Norman knight of old, Hrulf defended Ukraine since 2017. He was a soldier, a Kozak, a leader, and I am honoured to say my friend.

There was a time where I lost hope and gave up. It was Hrulf that believed in me when I gave up on myself. I am just some random guy on the internet, yet he took the time to help me on my feet. I will never forget him.

Pour notre chevalier Normand, qui a risqué sa vie pour le bien des autres et qui a servi l'intérêt commun de notre pays, nous prions le Seigneur.

Good-bye my friend. Thank you for your courage, your sacrifice and your friendship. We will always remember you.
