@numetalOverlord@johfysdumpster@Ivotin24 It's funny since all these farms rely on niche mechanics that mojang probably didn't expect players to utilize. The devs didn't make XP a grind to get because they expected players to use mob farms, they made it a grind because they weren't thinking when designing the system.
@chocomintedice I never got the feeling that mob farms were ever a requirement in Minecraft, let alone expected for players to use. You can’t say mojang is intentionally forcing players to make them since they mostly rely on niche game mechanics you’d only learn from wiki browsing.
@n1ght_zera@T33_Vee@IOriginalNameI@passoverme_@Kenneky_1505 The anvil use system prevents players from combining lower level books, so you’re forced to break and replace lecterns to hope the villager gives a useful high level trade on the first go. Both enchanting and buying books has you deal with annoying RNG for no good reason
@AMel0n_@SplatAlt@sopthekid@perpillow Don’t really agree with the change, it makes potion effects too easy to get, since potion ingredients usually required you to do some exploring to get while these just have you farming crops. It’d be better if cooked food gave more hunger / saturation and potions were improved
@Eggenjoyerseal Minecraft players criticize the game all the time, it has a lot of flaws. Issue here is that he states that the game punishes casual players for not making grind farms even though the game can be easily played without them. Most of these changes don’t really impact the thesis.
@TheEmployee2108@Labotical@perpillow are* mb. XP farms are the only ones I’d say are a necessity since levels are treated as currency despite the XP cost increasing exponentially.
@TheEmployee2108@Labotical@perpillow The issue is that mob grinders aren’t really required to casually enjoy the game, he’s presenting things like they’re a bigger issue than they actually are. The only time mob grinders aren’t needed are for XP, which only necessitates an overhaul of that system
@AMel0n_@SplatAlt@sopthekid@perpillow His idea makes farming livestock through normal methods or mob farms way less impactful despite that requiring more time investment. Also makes potion brewing obsolete. All to dissuade automated animal farms which you could just… not make.
@IOriginalNameI@passoverme_@Kenneky_1505 Unless you take a long ass time to get to the enchanting stage you won’t have enough XP to enchant all your gear. Keep in mind level costs increase exponentially despite the fact that they’re used as a resource. This is because mojang sucks at game design.
@Moons_Alibi@elledgi@Kenneky_1505 Getting the right enchanted book trade from villagers is as tedious as making a mob farm. Since enchanting is luck based and requires a lot of XP it’s the only time Minecraft really incentivizes you to make a mob farm. The issue is that enchanting SUCKS!!!
@TFTransfemV2@MeedasPerson@HomebrewedDK That’s what I think too, which is why the video’s thesis falls flat. Most farms aren’t done out of necessity, and the ones that are, are usually because of a design flaw in a different section of the game. Nobody is really punished for not making farms.
@MeedasPerson@HomebrewedDK I felt it was more like these farms almost always require a guide from someone else since they’re reliant on mechanics not easily shown to the player. Nobody is gonna naturally figure out how to make an iron golem farm without hours of experimentation and wiki reading.
@SWit4684037@Aloekunyep@VAsgore_ Noelle offhandedly mentions having cells and adrenaline, so assuming that’s not a figure of speech, monsters in DR are more physical compared to UT.
