@ArleneDickinson It's wonderful to say this and can't be said enough. Given all the focus on the economy at the theoretical level, we can forget that the economy is created by and exists for the benefit of people.
Why can we give billions to industry but we can’t give 10k to each family in need living below the poverty line? And homeless people needing a hand up? We want to create jobs sure. How about creating happiness, freedom, peace of mind, independence and, above all, real hope.
The project has a few objectives: to mobilize existing basic income research, raise awareness about basic income as a progressive policy option, amplify the stories of those with lived experience, and challenge harmful stereotypes about poverty and income support programs.
#BasicIncomeBoughtMe is about agency and dignity, grounded in the belief that people have the right to spend basic income how they see fit.
Ultimately, we want to show that better policy responses to income insecurity not only exist, but are actionable and impactful.
