#strangerthings5 uses 2 prince songs in the most genius way possible. it starts with “When Doves Cry” as they set off the bomb in the upside down. later, we hear “Purple Rain” before the bomb goes off. it’s so cool to me because they use a physical copy of the Purple Rain album to do so. with no one there to turn the record player off, the record canonically keeps playing. so, when the bomb goes off, we hear “Purple Rain” because no one is there to stop the record. that’s the most genius use of 2 songs from the same side of a record. i didn’t see it coming but looking back, it makes so much sense.
