Today in 2011, Mike Modano retires after 21 seasons in the NHL.

He signed an honorary one-day contract so he could retire after 20 seasons as a member of the Dallas Stars. Four of those seasons were with the Minnesota North Stars before the franchise moved to Dallas in 1993.
