We’re hosting tournaments for basically all of December. Talking like 430hrs per season which makes my $2k stipend from SAUSD, less than $5/hr!! & THAT AINT INCLUDING ALL THE TIME I GOTTA PUT IN EVERY OFF-SEASON & ESPECIALLY SUMMERS SMFH

HS coaching is a fkn joke looking back at my experience… like how tf u expect me to put in 2-3hr 3x a week for Oct. then Nov is 6 days/week either 2-4hrs on non game days, 4-5 hrs on game days for just my team, 8-9 hrs on game days for entire program & 10–12hrs a day when we

NOT TO MENTION THE STIPEND FOR EACH SZN WAS $2k AT THE TIME, WHICH AFTER DIVIDING BY THE NUMBER OF HOURS I PUT IN FOR MY RESPONSIBILITIES AS A COACH WAS FARRRRRR BELOWWWWW MINIMUM WAGE. This was 2007-2010. I CANT imagine what it is like now.

To be a HS coach right now, football or basketball, u gotta have different ways your gonna play depending on the talent u have, unless u r at one of the elite high schools (trinity league/division one) who will generate talent that transfers in every year.

& if u wanna compete u gotta do it as well… unless u r committed to going the “homegrown” route & are committed to playing the long game which’ll take years to develop the talent yourself & change the culture at your school while doing so.
