Officials have announced that the three-language formula will be introduced for Class 9 starting from the 2025-26 academic session and for Class 10 from the 2026-27 session. As part of this policy, Hindi will be a compulsory subject for all students. In addition, students will select two more languages from a list that includes Sanskrit, Gujarati, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Assamese, Oriya, Kannada, Kashmiri, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Nepali, Pali, Arabic, Persian, and English.
UP Board Secretary Shukla also stated that Mathematics, Science, and Social Science will remain mandatory subjects.
