The Yaounde Declaration [2024] - African Health Ministers Commit to End Malaria Deaths
~
It's been 23 Years since the Abuja declaration, and so it was really refreshing to witness the events in Cameroon. The GMP leadership is taking some truly transformative steps here by galvanizing political leadership round malaria elimination. Congratulations and thank you so much @DrDanielNgamije, the GMP team and @DrTedros. And thanks also to Dr. @MoetiTshidi, WHO AFRO team and @JeanKaseya2 at @AfricaCDC.
Particularly great to see key partners such as @gavi, @GlobalFund, @gatesfoundation, @PMIgov, and many others all line up to back this renewed political leadership from Africa

Even if malaria cases do not go to zero, certainly we can end all malaria deaths within a decade. We can go to zero with as few deaths as possible. https://t.co/GEzRp1DTWn
Understanding what, how, when, and whom to address, while also using appropriate body language, tone, and posture, are essential aspects of effective communication. Thank you @CameroonPamca, @Pamca_Wivc, @cam_crid, Dr @goupeyou_youmsi, Dr @Billy_Tene for this amazing workshop 👏
We will be recruiting a PhD student in the next year! If you are interested in the intersection between malaria, vascular biology and immunology and using new bioengineering, stem cell, imaging and omics approaches to understand host-pathogen interections, don't hesitate to apply

Randomized control trials are the gold standard for evaluation of public health tools, medicines and medical devices, but are extremely costly to implement. Here we argue that for vector control, we could consider other types of quality evidence as well.
