It’s official.
Today, August 10, 2026, President Trump signed an executive order establishing new “Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations.”
The updated federal guidance prioritizes 11 core immunizations recommended for all children:
measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, Hib, pneumococcal, HPV, and varicella.
Other vaccines move to either high-risk groups only or shared clinical decision-making between parents and doctors. The order also directs that doses be spaced across separate medical visits whenever feasible, and calls for the development of single-disease measles, mumps, and rubella shots once they become available domestically.
This brings U.S. recommendations closer in line with several peer developed nations while explicitly preserving access to every currently available vaccine and reinforcing parental choice.
