Patty Mills Pick Ups - a great drill to work on ball handling skills and your ability to "pick up" the basketball into your shot or to make a pass. I saw this done by former NBA and international star Patty Mills. He uses these ball handling drills to build up into shooting
Shot Pocket Shooting - the players were given a series of simple instructions | put the basketball in a scoring position - your shot pocket, step into your shot, and try to make it.
We also did a set with a | left foot - right sequence. Next up we use a spin or toss out
Up Down Shooting
1) Shooter begins in middle of the objects
2) Passer says “Up" or “Down”
3) Player reacts to command and goes around object in that direction
4) Shooter uses the appropriate footwork to come go around the object and catches the pass for the shot
Contact Ball Handling - its real and a part of the game. If the defender contact is not called - you play on.
Build it into your player development system 🏀
Tomorrow in my basketball strategy classroom session I will discuss "Mid Range" scoring and one of the best to ever do that was Kevin Durant. Here are 50 mid range shots that Durant made from this past NBA season!
