🚨 ALERT: INDONESIA'S LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY IS IN DANGER
to everyone outside Indonesia: please help spread this message, we need international attention before more people are hurt
recently, the President of Indonesia issued a Presidential Regulation that classifies LGBTQ+ as a non-military threat. many LGBTQ+ Indonesians fear that this rhetoric is now being used to justify hatred and violence against our community
a vigilante mob calling itself "Anti-Boti" has emerged and has been carrying out acts of persecution targeting LGBTQ+ people, especially transgender women and feminine-presenting men
earlier this week, more than 15 transgender women in Bogor, Indonesia were reportedly attacked. victims were beaten, kicked, and had urine thrown at them. several sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment with the support of local NGOs and donations from both Indonesians and international to help cover their medical expenses
but the violence has continued
on 17 July 2026 in Palu, Indonesia, a feminine-presenting man was reportedly attacked at around 1:00 AM after going to the restroom of the coffee shop. according to reports, three men followed him into the restroom, assaulted him, left him with serious injuries, and threatened to kill him
another incident occurred on 18 July 2026, also in Palu. a man was simply spending time at a coffee shop when a mob accused him of being gay because he was wearing makeup. witnesses reported that members of the mob were carrying bladed weapons before attacking him
no one should live in fear simply because of how they look, express themselves, or are perceived by others no one deserves to be beaten, threatened, or hunted by mobs
I call on the Government of Indonesia to immediately investigate these attacks, hold the perpetrators accountable, and ensure the safety of every citizen without discrimination
I also urge the international community, human rights organizations, journalists, and media outlets to pay attention to what is happening in Indonesia, silence only enables further violence
human rights belong to everyone
no one deserves persecution
no one deserves to live in fear
tw // queerphobia
hi guys, please take ur time to read this.
not too long ago, the president of Indonesia release a statement naming LGBTQIA+ "agenda" as a non-military threat to the nation. in result, queer people in my country are being witch hunted. anarchist cishet men in my country created an organization called "boti hunter" (boti=bottom/twinks) for each city. yesterday they made a move and flex it on social media targetting trans women at night who were working to make ends meet. they brought bottles of alcoholic drinks and smashing it around them, and it resulted around 15 trans women getting beaten, kicked, and doused with urine.
they have been threatening queer people on social media by doxxing and cyber-bullying them with threats, as far as death and rape. there are screenshots of cishet men encouraging their fellows saying "let's beat up lesbians and strip them naked so they can go back to normal".
as you know, i identify myself as a fem-leaning queer (closeted irl) and i have been actively using social media to retaliate against violence targetting marginalized people and i also make my time to speak about political crisis happening in my country. but, as far as my bravery can go, i'm starting to feel terrified, many of us queers don't even feel safe in our social media, which is our only safe space for so long. the government is oppressing us, this is a call for help!!! we really can't do anything to change this situation unless the world listen to us.
