@jonfavs@mehdirhasan These simply arent mutually exclusive. People can be feeling the squeeze because of decades of neoliberal economics (as well as lifestyle choices, i suspect), then be convinced to assign that blame to an administration that was actually moving things in the correct direction.

You havent provided better sources, or said what the magnitude of the effects would be on the data thats out there based on your issues with how its collected. There is no perfect data source, but theres a good chance these are "less wrong"
All I can think about is how throughout all of human history no messages have been more effective at amassing power than "the other side looks down on you" and "outsiders are ruining your way of life." No rational arguments seem to penetrate them
