We had received samples of bowel resections from a young female, suspecting TB or malignancy.
One section of the large bowel showed cross-sections of multiple intestinal parasites. (See picture 1). To confirm the identification of the parasite, the case was discussed with me.

Day 7:
Now that you are aware of what Antimicrobial resistance is all about, you have to play your part by practicing the necessary control measures and spreading the awareness.

Curbing Antimicrobial resistance is a collective effort that starts with YOU.

AMR is not restricted to a particular area. It is widespread and every nation worldwide is endangered by this new defiance of microbes.

Curbing AMR requires collective effort from every individual, every organisation, every nation and every region.

Day 5: At the rate which AMR is spreading, we could have millions of people dying from diseases that would have easily been cured with drugs purchased at the Pharmacy. This is why AMR is so dangerous and must be stopped.

Day 4:
People harbouring drug-resistant microbes can spread them to others if proper hygiene is not practiced. AMR microbes can also be gotten from agricultural livestock.

Day 3.
When microbes are constantly exposed to antimicrobial drugs, they develop mechanisms to counter the effects of the drug.
This makes the drug ineffective and the infection could potentially become incurable.

Day 2: Antimicrobial resistance occurs when microbes develop the ability to counter the effects of drugs usually used to kill them.
This causes a lot of treatment failures.
