BIG CHANGE:
YOU CAN NOW OFFICIALLY
GENERATE ELECTRICITY FOR YOURSELF, USE WHAT YOU NEED, AND SELL EXCESS ELECTRICITY BACK TO THE GRID THROUGH YOUR DISCO
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has commenced the Net Billing Regulations 2026, a new framework that allows eligible electricity users to generate power mainly through solar energy for their own use and export excess electricity back to the distribution network.
In simple terms, if your solar system generates more electricity than you consume, you can now send the extra power back to your DisCo and receive credits under a regulated billing arrangement.
This effectively creates what the sector calls a “Prosumer” ;meaning you are both a consumer and producer of electricity.
However, there are conditions.
This is not yet targeted at the average small residential solar setup.
To qualify:
-You must already be connected to a DisCo network.
-Your renewable energy system must have a minimum installed capacity of 50kWp and a maximum of 1.5MWp
-You must obtain approval from your DisCo.
-You must sign a Net Billing Agreement and register with NERC.
Approved users will receive bidirectional meters that track: ➡️Electricity imported from the grid
⬅️Electricity exported back to the grid
@HabuSadeik It also requires a lot of know-how to plan, secure financing…etc to succeed.
The icing for me is working side by side with the best Gas executives on the private/public side.
If you’re not super smart, You can’t survive the intellectual demands of a proper Natgas business
NatGas business is sweet - far interesting/challenging than Oil. I missed it - esp. the jargon & contracts😮💨
Issue is unlike oil, gas rarely sells itself - you have to “hawk” it to offtakers. Most cases, you also provide the infrastructure the customer needs to receive/use it 😂
How NLNG Operates: Understanding Natural Gas from Start to Finish.
PART A
I wrote about how oil is produced, the contracts that govern O&G, and the fiscal terms involved.
Now let us see in simple terms how the LNG gas side of the industry works.
Thread!!!
lol that’s an Oligopoly you seek 😂
It can be worse because there’s very high chance of collusion - the few (2 or 3 players) will make pricing and strategic decisions by first interacting with each other.
E.g they can agree to restrict output to jointly jump prices
This is not the kind of competition we need. A competition where a producer is competing with importers is not ideal. The real competition that we need is the type where two or more refineries are competing, not a refinery competing with importers.
Dangote should work on his price to make importation unattractive.

@edidiongmekong@bigbrutha_ Arguably these are the top or best in Europe but still won't surpass or rival US pay😊
For Sweden, its way better than US in job security, strong labour law protection, work life balance and perhaps social safety net.
You know Netflix and Snapchat logos but don’t know LinkedIn, Shell and Amazon…etc.
But same people will say there are no jobs - jobs that you can't recognize? 😂
HOW SMART PEOPLE STAY SAFE AT WORK:
1. Always confirm verbal agreements over email.
2. Keep records of decisions you did not make alone.
3. Never forward gossip. Even if it is true.
4. Build relationships before you need favors.
5. Know which battles are worth fighting.
6. Stay neutral in conflicts that are not yours.
7. Never let your frustration show in writing.
8. Deliver bad news early. Never late.
9. Be the person who makes others look good.
10. Underpromise on timelines and overdeliver on quality.
11. Stay close to people who have access and influence.
12. Do not celebrate too loudly when others fail.
13. Always have a skill no one else on your team has.
For every life made easier, every journey made possible, every hope restored through your work—there are countless voices, unspoken, praying for you.
May this new year hold you gently… restore your strength, reward your sacrifices, and surround you with the same grace you have so selflessly poured into others. May your legacy not only be seen in the movement of a city but felt in the gratitude of generations.
Today, Lagos doesn’t just celebrate a leader—it celebrates a man whose heart beats for its people.
Happy birthday, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi
We hired a consulting firm to tell us why our profits are down.
They sent three 24-year-olds wearing vests.
They spent two months interviewing us about our own jobs.
Then they put our answers into a PowerPoint presentation.
They charged us $250K for this privilege.
During the final readout, one of them used the phrase synergy optimization without blinking.
I looked around the conference room.
Our CEO was nodding like he just received the Ten Commandments.
The grand conclusion was that we need to increase revenue and decrease costs.
I could've told them that for a gift card to Panera.
But nobody listens to the guy who works here.
You only listen to the guy who flies in on a Tuesday.
I'm updating my resume to include synergy optimization.
It feels like the right move.

Your Excellency, indeed a #TeamSweden pleasure to spend quality time with You + your team
Our conversation reflects what’s possible when meaningful 🇸🇪 innovation/investment meets the visionary leadership/public ambition of 🇳🇬 largest sub-national.
@followlasg@Mr_JAGs
I received the Swedish State Secretary for Foreign Trade, Diana Janse, on a courtesy visit today at Lagos House, Marina.
We discussed investment opportunities in transportation, ICT and other key sectors, with a shared focus on building partnerships that deliver real value, encourage innovation and create mutually beneficial opportunities.
It was nice meeting you to explore the next level of Lagos’ Water Transport goals.
A good reminder of what happens when meaningful innovation meets public ambition 💯.
Together, we can achieve greater things for Lagos, and Nigeria by extension 👍
🇸🇪 🤝 🇳🇬
Yesterday, I, alongside the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, met with Marlena Malmström, Sweedish Trade Commissioner to Nigeria and Nakul Virat of Candela to explore innovative electric ferry solutions that could support Lagos’ water transport goals and enhance the State’s multimodal transport system.
The discussion focused on the potential deployment of advanced electric ferry technology to promote more safe, efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly mobility across Lagos waterways.
Lagos remains committed to strengthening strategic international partnerships and embracing innovative solutions that will improve connectivity and expand safe water transportation for residents.
