The East Course at Winged Foot, little brother to the famous Open-hosting West Course, is the favorite of many members here.
It’s a bit shorter, somewhat easier and arguably prettier - but just as strategic and compelling in design, which is no surprise since A.W. Tillinghast built both courses at the same time in 1923.
If you’ve had the pleasure of playing both, which do you prefer?

Congratulations @CoachGusMalzahn on a remarkable, hall of fame career. You loved players like sons, led your family w/ grace, & continue to stand firm in your walk with Jesus. Because of that, there’s “no doubt” your best days are ahead. Enjoy retirement w/ your family, Coach ⛳️
Nothing but respect for Gus. Thanks for all you did for Auburn, Coach.
It was a joy to track your many vests worn during your time as Auburn's HC. Those mockups will forever live on the Auburn Uniform Database: https://t.co/whL3UdS9lX
What a legacy you leave, coach. Congrats on an incredible career that transformed the game of football. From your time in the 90’s as a HS coach in Arkansas, you transformed how the game is played across the country at the high school level. Then you moved to the collegiate level and changed how the college game is played for two decades. You’ve always won- I’m not sure any one offensive coach has had more impact on the game in our country for the past three decades. Most importantly, you had a lasting impact on the players you led. I’m thankful I’m one of the many who got to call you ‘coach’. You truly used your impact in a positive way. Well done, @CoachGusMalzahn
Sean Payton on how Bo Nix handled fracturing his ankle and his season is over moments after he won his first playoff game and was heading to the AFC Championship game.
“I’ll tell you what, the one thing about it. He’s such a strong, faith-based guy. He was sitting in the hallway with his family, and I went over, and we’re all talking to him. He knows that God has a plan for him. He said he had one in high school, and then he said he had one at Auburn. I said, ‘I didn’t realize that.’ I said, ‘If I would have known that, I wouldn’t have drafted you.’ (Laughs) He’s a tough cookie. I said, ‘Listen. I believe you’re the second quarterback in Year 2 to take your team to a Championship game, and the first is [Chiefs QB Patrick] Mahomes. This team all year has lost key players, and we’ll rise up for the next challenge and we’ll go from there.”
