🇦🇺💔 Heartbreaking news out of Brisbane: Gout Gout has been forced to withdraw from next month’s World U20 Championships in Eugene after suffering a hamstring injury at training last night

This morning’s MRI confirmed a grade 3C partial tear of the proximal biceps femoris tendon, affecting less than 10% of the tendon’s cross-section but spanning 8cm in length. The injury rules him out of the meet he specifically prioritized, having skipped the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow to chase gold in Eugene

In his own words:

“I’m very disappointed but I have no other possibility but to accept the situation. I understand this is part of athletics. My focus now will be on my rehab in the coming weeks and months and ensuring I come back in 2027 better and stronger and faster.”
