@Suitpossum Or you could be intellectually honest and just admit your aesthetic preference on this topic aligns with your aesthetic preferences on most topics.
I’m sure AI researchers have their pick of the litter right now, but I promise the opportunity to work with @matthew_pines on literally solving physics is an n-of-one.
@JillFilipovic What would be great is if you took this as a lesson that right wingers views actually aren’t born from purposeless malice and let that insight allow you to come to a greater understanding of the world as a result, but you won’t
the central plot point of “infinite jest” is a film so engrossing that anyone who watches it loses all interest in anything else: they can’t eat, sleep, or function.
in the book, terrorists fight over it. In real life, Alex Wang got paid a couple b to make it happen
people often post this stuff to imply that moral panics about the technologies of the past were quaint. But the past is full of reminders that we are on a long, slow march away from embodied experience, and that we’ve lost more of it than we can even remember
Wikipedia is so ironic. We wanted to give a voice to the voiceless, but what emerged was one of the most effective organs of Establishment propaganda in history.
Spotted in Manitoba. You have to be a special kind of demonic to advocate for MAID for young vulnerable people and people who are suicidal.
Imagine walking into a clinic for help, and being told the world would be better off without you… that you should cave to the lies the devil on your shoulder is telling you and it would be more affordable for Canada’s healthcare system if you were gone.
As someone who has transformed my life and become empowered to live it, thanks to recovery plans and treatment after trying to end it—and is on the other side after losing the man I loved for nearly 10 years of my life to that same fate; There is nothing compassionate about this—it is pure evil.
Hypothesis:
If a 10x engineer who is the inventor of Typescript can be let go in layoffs without a heads-up, none of our jobs are really safe & you are probably better off thinking of yourself as a one person business who consistently networks to build their own sales pipeline
@LynAldenContact@nic_carter You should study physics and cryptography and conclude that quantum computing is a scam.
In 30 years they are unable to factor 3 digit numbers. It is all fake propaganda. They corrupt the notion of "computer".
@Stimpyz1@TXMCtrades@morpheus7447x@LynAldenContact I agree, stablecoins work great for all these use cases and there’s not much reason to use BTC for transactions where you need those properties unless you also want censorship resistance.
@Stimpyz1@TXMCtrades@morpheus7447x@LynAldenContact On-chain settlement only needs to compete with gold vault settlement to already have value as a settlement network. Competing with internal databases of the Treasury and private banks is not necessary. No one is going to be performing point of sale transactions on chain.
@Stimpyz1@TXMCtrades@morpheus7447x@LynAldenContact Except it is not “widely recognized” among anyone who understands the scope of the problem. If BTC didn’t have this “problem,” the engineering tradeoffs it would incur instead would be far worse.
This new model isn’t so much end-to-end encryption. Increasingly, stochastically, but maybe inevitably, we’re moving to “end-to-HSM” encryption, where all the messages of the world (or a lot of them) exist for at least a moment inside of a pretty hardened central server.
Messaging apps are increasingly deploying AI features like summarization. Apple Intelligence offers this for all newer devices. Others are considering or have already deployed similar features.
WhatsApp has even deployed an “advanced privacy mode” to except chats from AI.
