“Your security is always our top priority.”
I reported fraud on a transfer less than a week old. Remitly’s response was to suspend MY account for “suspicious activity,” not the scammer’s. I already filled out this exact form. On the phone after, your agent told me this is standard process.
Security for who, exactly? @remitlyhelp___@remitlysupport@remitlyhelpUSA@OIGFedCFPB@bobsullivan@lizweston@TechCrunch #ConsumerRights #Fintech (fintech watchers and journalists monitor this)
1. A warning about @Remitly, first time user, and I want people to see how they handle fraud before you send money through them.
2. Last week I sent a transfer. Realized quickly it was a scam and filed a dispute well within 3 days, the money should have been recoverable or the receiving account flagged.
3. Remitly’s response? The very next day they suspended MY account. Not the scammer’s. MINE!
Reason given: Suspicious activity!!!!
4. I called support for an explanation. They told me plainly this is their standard process!!!
So basically when they can’t recover the money, they lock the customer out instead of going after the fraudulent recipient.
5. So the victim gets punished and the scammer keeps the money. If anyone at @remitly / @remitlyhelpUSA / @remitlysupport / @remitlyhelp___ to actually fix this, I’m right here. Please RT so others don’t get burned.
@HetarthVader@agarwalpacker@HetarthVader do post about this on LinkedIn as well. Most of the people who rely on M&P services are the ones who are working somewhere other than their native place. The reach there should be beneficial for others as well.
If you want to ship equipment from Bengaluru to the North anytime soon. DO NOT USE @agarwalpacker. I usually have respect for traditional businesses, but this time, my confidence was shattered.
Here's a thread why.
