When I came into this industry of indie comics about 5 years ago, there were a lot of words being thrown around that spoke to me. "Meritocracy" was a big one. That if a creator did right by their backers, put together a good book with a good story, solid art, and got it out to their backers, that they would be able to build something in this space. That the doors were open. And for a while this seemed genuinely true.
Over the years, I have seen that truth wane. Doors that were once open now being closed. People who were friends one minute, were enemies the next. But it didn't matter to me, I was just here to contribute my small share to indie comics because, I love doing it and I am grateful every day that I am able to make these books for you guys. It still doesn't.
I see people talking on feeds about all these things going on in this weird little corner of things and as disheartening as it is to see, I continue.
And hey, thats not to say I haven't had my own mishaps. I had to pause fulfillment on a book once because my life literally fell apart. The Embrace 2 is on a delay because our artist is having to redraw a solid portion of the book after his tablet went down. We all, as creators, get hit with lapses in judgement, logistical errors, or just straight up Murphys law. But I continue, broken wallet from page rates and shipping invoices, because I love telling these stories and so long as even one person out there wants to read the stories I have, I am going to do my best to deliver.
What I guess is the point of this post? Nothing in the grand scheme of things. Just a thank you for letting me do this for 5 years and here's to hopefully 5 more. And dont forget, Elysian Fields Reborn still has late pledges open, just paid the printing invoice today, would love to get you your books! Cheers

Terrible news. Marvel Comics legend Peter David's been taken off Medicaid, which means his medical bills and living expenses just skyrocketed. If you can, please consider chipping in. https://t.co/zqzGWjddAH
