Thank you, yes top view gives the viewer a great angle but so does the side view as you can then see binding sequence. I also don’t know if it’s a technical problem and how freely the overhead camera moves across the pitch? But yes would be great to see more of this for the viewer.
2nd clip is without a doubt a penalty to @IrishRugby and can’t fathom why this wasn’t rewarded. The Irish pack is clearly moving forward and dominant, with @ProperChurch having his opposite in all sorts of trouble. On top of this @ProperChurch fights hard to save his bind as the French T-head’s bind is illegal and pulling him downwards. At the end the @FranceRugby T-head collapses inwards due to pressure, a clear penalty to Ireland. @SixNationsRugby
Clip 1 is a penalty against Ireland on their own ball for collapsing. For me @IrishRugby get a great hit on the engage sequence, especially on Porter’s side and feel Antonio is under pressure and the French hooker can’t get his hips through which means they can’t recover. The ref doesn’t have the luxury of the top view but you can clearly see French T-head and hooker hinging down first due to them not getting across the line and the great engage from Ireland. The French pack were under pressure here and got lucky, for me is at the very least a reset and stern talking with the French front row to take the hit and fight to stay up. @SixNationsRugby@FranceRugby
The ref’s call is final but these calls need to be better?? For me there isn’t one area that points towards Porter here other than maybe advancing on the hit, but this for me is caused by the
French T-head. They 7 against 8 here and the Irish come with a solid hit, you don’t get across the line, what do you do….you choose not to scrum.
@david001889946@IrishRugby I think in fairness like all L-Heads he has shown bad pictures so he’s now on the radar. But in this case he was rock solid!
@oisoftheclears@IrishRugby Yes he has improved but it’s always a work in progress. Perceptions come and go but the going takes a little longer unfortunately. The French pack is probably one of the toughest packs to come against so yes it was always going to be tough going.
@aulurkerau @IrishRugby@ProperChurch It does bobble out and point taken about ref wanting ball in play. But this bobble caused by whip around caused by the first offence of French T-head collapsing.
@peterom6 is pin point perfect. Hookers generally have there shoulder taking first contact on opp T-head and so it would drop to keep pressure down. I would suggest looking what happens on contact point and who is under pressure….bearing in mind this is an Irish put in. *see below my thought on Peter’s shape.
@Lancegordon85@IrishRugby No it’s experience, and @peterom6 understands the perfect pressure point and how to maximise it. It’s his job first and foremost to keep the L-head’s hips in, the go forward is mostly from his 2nd row.
