Leaving an AAU tournament yesterday, I heard a parent tell their child, “You should’ve scored more.”
What if we celebrated great passes as much as points?
The best players make everyone around them better.
#TeamBasketball
High school/college programs - are you interested in putting a plan in place for your team, where we sit down and create an individual skill model for your athletes, where we are in the gym early for training? Result driven outcomes. Please DM. Thanks.
The core of my training (based on skillset):
-Replicate game movement
-Spot shooting on catch
-PnR action and shooting
-awkward finishes
-foundation shooting mechanics
-conditioning
-creativity through visualization
-hardcore rap and Latin music
Now is the time for you so called hoopers to be in the gym working on your craft. DM if you are interested in no hype and work only. We will be outside. No film crew, water optional. Just a basketball, the heat, and Westside Gunn. 6th grade and above.
One day you’re gonna wake up and AAU basketball will be over. No more weekend tournaments, packed gyms, or team hotels. No more “one more game” next weekend.
One day you’ll be out of eligibility for high school basketball. Then college basketball too.
And eventually, the thing that feels like your whole world right now becomes a memory.
So stop playing scared. Shoot your shot. Sprint the floor. Dive on the loose ball. Compete with confidence. Enjoy your teammates. Because one day you’ll wish you could go back and play just one more game with them.
Fear and hesitation have ended way more careers than missed shots ever will.
Just something to think about.
@GBLHoopsCircuit@ohiochampionbb Session 2 averages from OCB U16 GBL from Indianapolis. It should be noted that Andrew England had 29 pts and 10 rebs on Friday to open up last weekend. #naia#d2#d3#ac
I watched AAU basketball all weekend.
I left with bad news for most players:
Too many are building highlight reels before they’re building winning habits.
The game ends. They lose. And before they’ve watched film or owned what needs to change…
The post is already up.
The highlight clip.
The posed photo.
Everyone wants exposure.
But exposure doesn’t fix bad shot selection.
It doesn’t make you defend.
It doesn’t teach you how to impact winning.
The camera should document the work.
It shouldn’t become the reason for the work.
Recruiting accounts are out of control.
Players and families are educated by social media and not by people anymore. Your validation as a player is not on a LIST made by someone sitting behind a computer (likely not even showing up to the event) and using Chat for a graphic!
One of the best quotes in AAU history
“My son has gotten more sneakers than shots so far”
Incredible stuff
So many prospects were confident they were top 2-3 options on these teams
Hang in there
