Congratulations to the Uganda National Drug and Health Products Authority on the passing of the National Drug and Health Products Authority Bill, 2025.

The law expands the NRA’s oversight to include vaccines, diagnostics, and medical devices, while imposing tougher penalties on substandard and falsified medicinal products.

This is an important step toward safeguarding public health in the country and on the continent, ensuring access to safe, quality and efficacious medical products for patients in Africa.

The African Medicines Agency is proud of this great achievement. We look forward to closer collaboration with the NDA as we strengthen capacity for the regulation of medical products in Africa

As of 2021, over 537 million adults (20-79 years) were living with diabetes worldwide, and this number is projected to reach 643 million by 2030 and 783 million by 2045.

I send my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Tito Mboweni, and to President Ramaphosa and the government and people of South Africa.

Tito Mboweni was a giant voice for Africa and a champion of continental integration. His counsel was invaluable in the effort of reforming the African Union, and in recent years he dedicated his energy to implementing the reform as chair of the AU Peace Fund. His legacy will live on for generations to come.

Together with my son, we had an exciting interaction with @AndreyOnana this morning. The @ManUtd goalkeeper is in Uganda for their @DiskiAfrika qualifier match against @Harambee__Stars of Kenya. As ardent @ManUtd fans, we are excited to see an African raising our continent’s flag at the biggest football club in the world. And I’m glad at the way he has settled in, and we are praying for his success.

On a lighter note, I informed him how I will make research to see if he has relatives in Uganda since the Bakiga originated from Cameroon.

I'm equally excited about the invitation he has extended to me and my son to watch him live in action at Old Trafford.
