Public & Governmental Affairs, K-12 ED Consultant | @AlvinISD School Board Trustee & Vice President | ΑΦΑ | Former Principal of the Year | TABSE | NABSE
Tonight was overwhelming in the best way. Not only was I officially sworn in as a Trustee for Alvin ISD, but I was also nominated and elected to serve as Vice President of the Board.
As I shared tonight, this moment did not begin in the boardroom. It began in countless conversations—with students, parents, educators, and community members. I carry each of those voices with me, and I won’t forget the people who poured into me and trusted me to be their advocate.
God saw fit to place me in this position, and I do not take that lightly. I am committed to advocating for every single individual in our district and ensuring that we stay galvanized and grounded in our purpose—every single day.
To God be the glory.
I don’t know why it seems like the men of Omega Psi Phi keep multiplying, but it’s always good to see my friend, NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson, at the Inkwell this afternoon. Even an Alpha can appreciate a good Bruhz sighting every now and then! 😂 He sent his regards to the Brazoria County Branch of the NAACP.
In just 24 hours, I will walk across the biggest stage of my educational journey for the final time as a student.
After three years of sacrifice, perseverance, prayer, research, writing, and growth, I will receive my Doctor of Education in K-12 Educational Leadership from Baylor University. This journey has challenged me, strengthened me, and reaffirmed my commitment to creating better opportunities for students and educational leaders.
The moment is almost here. See you soon, Waco! 💚💛🎓

I am honored to announce my selection to the National School Boards Association’s Policy Leadership Cohort, where I will participate in the Educator Recruitment & Retention Policy track.
This national cohort brings together school board leaders, education advocates, and policy professionals from across the country to examine emerging education issues, strengthen advocacy skills, and develop actionable policy recommendations for public schools.
Every student deserves access to a highly qualified educator who feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. I look forward to collaborating with national policy experts and fellow education leaders to advance meaningful solutions that help our schools recruit, develop, and retain exceptional educators.
I am grateful for this opportunity to represent Alvin ISD and continue advocating for policies that strengthen public education for every student, educator, and community.

Productivity Tip of the Day
Your inbox is either a productivity tool or a distraction machine. The difference is what you allow into it.
For the next three mornings, spend just 15–20 minutes between 5:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. unsubscribing from every email that no longer adds value. Don’t overthink it—if you haven’t opened it in months or it doesn’t support your goals, let it go.
By the end of the week, you’ll have fewer interruptions, less digital clutter, and more time focused on the work that actually moves the needle. Productivity isn’t just about doing more—it’s about eliminating what no longer deserves your attention.
Host. Entertain. Support. Make an Impact. The Party on the Patio Sponsorship Package offers businesses and community partners a premium way to experience game day while directly supporting Alvin ISD Athletics.

Congrats to Dr. @MrQFloyd for successfully passing his @Baylor EdD dissertation defense at @baylormoodysoe 🐻 His study examined MTSS practices and leadership insights.
It’s an honor to be in Atlanta for the UNCF Unit Conference, joining leaders, advocates, educators, and community partners who share a common commitment to expanding educational opportunity.
For more than 80 years, UNCF has worked to ensure that students—particularly those attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)—have access to scholarships, resources, and the support needed to achieve their dreams. Their work changes lives, strengthens institutions, and creates pathways for future generations.
Being at the table matters. It’s where ideas are shared, partnerships are formed, and strategies are developed to remove barriers and create greater opportunities for students. I’m grateful to be part of these important conversations and look forward to bringing back insights that will continue to advance educational excellence in our communities.
The work continues because our students deserve nothing less.
