When I was a teenager, I got pregnant and decided to get an abortion.

But it was illegal nearly everywhere in the US. So, I took my first-ever flight from California to Texas, crossed the border into Mexico, and received a back-alley abortion.

I was lucky to survive. Too many women and girls in my shoes died from unregulated, unsafe procedures.

Abortion is health care. It should be safe and legal. And we will fight until it is a constitutional right once again.
