This story is very heartbreaking and underscores the need for asking questions as founders.
For the benefit of all African founders here on X, we are going to give a very short summary of what a seed round process looks like if you are raising $100k and above.
On Saturday, I was at Meet and Chat, an event organized by @builderscabal and hosted by @BlackcrestLP at @Cafeonenig, Yaba. It was a great opportunity for Founders and Operators in the Nigerian Tech Ecosystem to meet, network, and collaborate.
It featured board games, networking sessions, a Quiz, a Panel Session, and refreshments ( 🥞 🍸 ).
It was a great opportunity to see members of the Builders Cabal in real life after months of virtual conversations, learning, and partnerships.
I encourage Founders to take time from their tight schedule to network and share ideas with other Builders and Operators.
Thanks also to @theflutterwave for sponsoring the event.

Follow up.
The investors (real investors) are very busy. They get pitched a lot by different founders and may not always remember that they picked interest.
Don’t let anyone scam you. Involve a lawyer. It would have cost N300k at most for a competent legal team to have advised them against sending that money to the investor to validate the investment.
A credible investor never requests money to validate investments in startups.
