I love Morrissey, live music, classic cinema and the novels of Thomas Hardy. I have been known to write the occasional film blog. My Instagram: ian189195
I consider a belief in gods just as contemptible and silly as a belief the earth is flat. Do I have to respect those views? No.
Do I have to tolerate them and allow people to speak about them? Yes. If they are lawful I absolutely do. Because society is made up of many people with many different views that are very important to them. And any society which does not allow free expression of lawful and protected views, is an authoritarian hell scape.
So I will continue to support legal action against all those who unlawfully discriminate against protected belief, no matter how stupid I think each one is.
Jolyon Maugham spent approximately 5 months working with a team of ‘leading and junior counsel’ to compile six examples of alleged ‘harassment’ by me to put before my regulator.
These ‘examples’ did not meet the definition of harassment in any arena and if I were giving money to the GLP I would by now be very concerned to see how they waste it. They are an embarrassment, but sadly for many of us, a well funded one.
Lisa Nandy is championing proposals through her department’s green paper, Watch this Space, that have no place in a liberal democracy.
The proposals would force social media platforms to prioritise “trusted” public service broadcasters, such as the BBC, while demoting content from other news organisations, including GB News, The Telegraph and The Guardian.
What right does the Government have to decide which news sources are “trusted” and which are not?
This is not only the infantilisation of the British public; it is also an assault on a free and independent press.
The irony is off the charts. Many highly educated people fell for the claim that Khelif was female due to repeated exposure to this claim in sources they believed to be reliable. The authors of this report presumably fell for it too. The IOC claimed initially that claims Khelif was male were 'fake news'.
But UK law does not acknowledge self-ID. It has no validity in the UK. Some countries have introduced self-ID because the lazy policymakers either hadn’t realized or didn’t care about the negative consequences for the rights of others. All those countries will eventually revoke it - though it will undoubtedly take many years.
Self-ID is not a progressive concept. It is sexist, misogynistic and homophobic. Everyone will come to realize that eventually.
Funny how on the new Left,
- ‘Hope Not Hate’ is in fact a purveyor of hate
- ‘Liberal’ really means illiberal, often frighteningly so
- the ‘anti-fascists’ are strikingly similar in outlook and methods to the actual fascists
- the ‘anti-racists’ turn out to be more obsessed with race and more racist than any generation since the 1930s, especially when it comes to Asians, Jews and whites
- ‘Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ really means no diversity at all, rather strict uniformity of ideas, and the forceful exclusion of dissenters
- ‘Safe spaces’ are very unsafe spaces for anyone expressing any kind of open inquiry or challenging idea
- ‘pro-science’ says men can have periods and women can have penises.
It’s exactly as Orwell said it.
The Left has truly lost its way.
But if you tell young children who still believe their parents are perfect and who still believe in Santa, that they’re “really a girl” or “really a boy”, they’ll believe you. And they’ll live their life like that.
The truth won’t come as easy as the Santa reveal or their understanding of their imperfect parents.
They will one day consider their harmed bodies with horror as they come to realise they should have been left alone, and free to be a gender non conforming kids

Looking through the archives, this headline from 2017 stands out. Nine years ago it was a BBC headline that ONE five year old attended a gender clinic.
Today 23 kids aged four to six and 75 aged between seven and ten are attending gender clinics

I am sure that Olivia Coleman, Deborah Frances White, Anish Kapoor and Kaiser Chiefs, as @AmnestyUK ambassadors, fully support Amnesty’s desire to close down a rape crisis centre and smear its staff as bigots.
Humans are essentially the same, no matter their tribal affiliation. They all crave power. They all abuse that power. Social media has become the arena for public shaming and has been so for as long as I've been using it. The reason the Left is worse is that they have more share of voice.
There are more of them. They colonized the internet, after all, and I was along for the ride. I only became a target when I got too old to be useful in a sexual sense and also began pushing back like a gadfly or contrarian. They didn't like that too much.
I was swarmed and harrassed, called everything you could ever imagine. One of the worst offenses of mine was saying I don't like Shakespeare when actors read his plays (and it's true, I don't - very few of them do it well).
That was on par with defending Ansel Elgort, JK Rowling, or commenting on how it was a "dick move" to say to Rob Reiner's son, "We're having a private conversation." All of these thought crimes were very nearly punishable by death. If they could have, they would have.
They would have shown no mercy, empathy or humanity but would have loved to watch me stoned to death. Instead, they've just decided I am no longer welcome inside utopia. Not welcome on their dumb prediction sites, or at their parties or screenings. It's so silly. And would be hilarious if it weren't so tragic.
That is where power and intolerance takes you. But I know if the Right had that kind of power they'd probably do the same thing. It's the one thing we can't really control. If you can resist it, you're a champion.
For years we were told that trans rights and women’s rights could not in any way be in conflict.
Amnesty's smearing of Beira's Place makes very clear that women's rights just don't count.
If nothing else, I suppose it’s reassuring that @AmnestyUK etc remain implacably opposed to understanding their enemy. It’s such an Achilles heel for them, being incapable of deviating from the truly wild idea that gender critical activists are right-wing Christian conservatives
📣🚨 METROPOLITAN POLICE OFFER UNRESERVED APOLOGY TO GRAHAM LINEHAN AND PAY HIM £25,000
The Metropolitan Police have at long last offered an unreserved apology to Graham Linehan and paid him £25,000.
Last September, the Irish comedian and co-creator of Father Ted was arrested by five armed police officers as he landed at Heathrow Airport.
His crime? Three gender-critical posts on X.
He was arrested, taken to a police station and questioned for several hours. In the early hours of the following morning, he was rushed to hospital after his blood pressure rose to dangerously high levels.
The Free Speech Union is proud to have supported Graham in taking legal action against the Metropolitan Police for wrongful arrest and breaches of his free speech rights.
General Secretary of the Free Speech Union, Lord Young, has said: “I’m beginning to lose count of the number of cases we’ve fought in which the police have arrested someone for a tweet, decided to take no further action and then had to pay them substantial compensation for wrongful arrest.
“At some point you’d think the penny would drop: police our streets, not our tweets.”
While we welcome the Metropolitan Police’s apology and compensation payout to @Glinner, this should never have happened in the first place.
It is high time the police focused on our streets, not our tweets.

Here's a long form thread about why Ruth Hunt is an extremely dangerous and extreme gender ideologue and should be nowhere near any Government appointment, let alone a Civil Service Commissioner.
This is an excellent point. I think we’re coming to the end of a period you could describe as the secular version of the Hays Code (the Hollywood moral-code regime that ran from the mid‑1930s to the late 1960s). There's hundreds of stories that couldn't be told in the last fifteen years that should be told now.
That's exactly right. The minister will now say that trans women aren't women, but he's not ready to cancel a trial based on that proposition, which puts children at risk. Crazy. https://t.co/YaxjCadX3K
