Port Royal Speedway is Proud to Announce the 2026 Honorees for This Season's Living Legends Dream Race:
Port Royal Speedway is proud to announce the three honorees who will be celebrated during the 2026 Living Legends Dream Race on Saturday, August 22, as Davey Brown Sr., Don Kreitz Jr., and Tom Peck become the newest members of the Speedway's distinguished Living Legends class.
Each year, the Living Legends Dream Race recognizes individuals whose accomplishments, dedication and lasting contributions have helped shape the rich history of Port Royal Speedway and dirt track racing throughout Central Pennsylvania. This year's class honors three men whose legacies span generations and whose impact on the sport continues to resonate with competitors and fans alike.
While many are remembered for victories behind the wheel, Davey Brown Sr. earned his place among sprint car racing's all-time greats from the pit area. A 2001 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee, Brown became one of the sport's most accomplished mechanics, helping prepare championship-winning race cars for an incredible list of legendary drivers that includes Johnny Mackinson, Dick Tobias, Mitch Smith, Kramer Williamson, Lynn Paxton, Paul Pitzer, Doug Wolfgang, Kenny Jacobs, Cris Eash, Billy Pauch Sr., Lance Dewease, Daryn Pittman, Logan Wagner, and Ryan Smith. Throughout a career spanning more than seven decades, Brown-built race cars captured victories at virtually every major sprint car event in the country, including the Knoxville Nationals, Bob Weikert Memorials, Tuscarora 50s and countless marquee races and championships throughout Pennsylvania and beyond. His dedication, innovation and mechanical expertise have made him one of the most influential figures in sprint car racing history. Many wins have come alongside one of our other honorees Don Kreitz Jr. and the 69K machine.
Few drivers have enjoyed the level of sustained success achieved by Don Kreitz Jr. A 2015 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee and one of the most recognizable members of the Pennsylvania Posse, Kreitz has amassed more than 200 career victories while building one of the most decorated résumés in the sport. His accomplishments are well rounded across the country. His triumphs at Port Royal Speedway include 3 Tuscarora 50s, beating the World of Outlaws and the Outlaws II, 2 wins against the All Star Circuit of Champions, and 5 Labor Day Classic victories. Kreitz has also found an array of success as team owner of the 69K machine with drivers like Lance Dewease, Logan Wagner, Ryan Smith and more. From the ownership side, Kreitz's team has claimed 3 more Tuscarora 50s, 3 Tuscarora 50 preliminary night wins, 6 Keith Kauffman Classics, a Living Legends Dream race, preliminary night victories as a part of the Bob Weikert Memorial as well as a Bob Weikert Memorial title. Known as the "Sheriff of the Pennsylvania Posse," Kreitz spent more than four decades defending Posse pride against the nation's best while also mentoring young racers and helping shape the next generation of sprint car talent.
Unlike his fellow honorees, Tom Peck earned his reputation behind the wheel of a Super Late Model. One of the finest Late Model competitors in Port Royal Speedway history, Peck recorded 24 career Super Late Model victories at "The Speed Palace" while capturing the 1973 Port Royal Speedway Track Championship. His success eventually led him to NASCAR, where he competed in the Busch Grand National Series, becoming one of the few drivers from Port Royal Speedway's rich history to compete on the national stage.
The Living Legends Dream Race is about preserving the history of our sport while honoring the people who built it. Davey Brown Sr., Don Kreitz Jr., and Tom Peck each left an indelible mark on Port Royal Speedway and Pennsylvania racing in their own unique way. Their accomplishments, dedication and passion for racing have inspired generations of competitors and fans, and we couldn't be more proud to recognize them as our 2026 Living Legends.
Fans will have the opportunity to recognize this year's Living Legends during special pre-race ceremonies on August 22 before another exciting night of competition at "The Speed Palace."
The Living Legends Dream Race has become one of Port Royal Speedway's signature annual events, bringing together generations of race fans to celebrate the individuals whose passion, innovation and accomplishments have helped define the rich heritage of dirt track racing in Central Pennsylvania.
Port Royal Speedway congratulates Davey Brown Sr., Don Kreitz Jr., and Tom Peck on this well-deserved honor and invites fans to join us on Saturday, August 22, as we celebrate three remarkable racing legacies.
