@_Sonic_Synergy_ The issue I have with this take is that yeah, Merlina is as much of an OC as the IDW cast is. But also using OC as a derogatory diminishes the entire idea of an OC. 3 decades of fandom oversaturation shouldn't change the definition.
Here's a little something I've come to learn.
If Sketch has to make a tweet to "clear the air" or something in the community, then there's a high chance there's some truth in the controversy.
there are too many claims and sources flying around of late to start addressing them all (in due time), but this one is annoyingly false.
There was no "leadership blacklist." Sure, some ppl and partners understandably don't like negative/critical sentiment or coverage - particularly with things like review copies/early access which are inherently intended to drive (good) awareness. Xperia's video actually directly led to some specific AI improvements at the finish line. Who knows who might have or have not been included "next time", there was no next time even on deck. It's all just speculative and baseless.
"the thing we don't like ended up in the game" doesn't correlate to "the developers only listened to yes-men in the community." Overall project and stakeholder vision and intent, real world constraints (time/resources), and/or conflicting preferences shared by different groups are all reasons why things end up the way they do that any of us may not like in the end result.
In my experience in some of these groups, feedback was measured and mature, and there were countless debates, but certainly not just glazing for the sake of glazing. Personal opinions vary as much as those across this passionate community. T
Additionally, something like a council group is but one vector of insights that goes along with traditional user research (administered hands-on tests and focus surveys), inputs like support tickets, playtesting, partners, and even anecdotal community feedback - positive and negative (videos, posts, etc.).
I'm grateful for everyone who has shared feedback in a respectful, constructive manner wherever and however it occurred. It's a gift and Halo is fortunate to have such a passionate longstanding community. I look forward to seeing how community and player insights shape the future of Halo.
@sirlink360@tapuyaps After seeing his pretty disheartened response to what how people were treating him when he said he didn't really like the Sonic 3 movie, its totally understandable
He's supposed to read as a mysterious beautiful man, a Bishōnen, they deliberately made his figure boxy and emphasized his musculature. now He's just Zelda in a ninja outfit.

@CrispyFrise I can speak for the sonic skins, I dont think people are complaining they don't look accurate, they're complaining that they look like these things
By removing the artistic aspect from the equation entirely, you are in fact NOT giving them a seat at the table, and if anything, are damaging what could be potential creators. You didn't make the steak if you got someone else to cook it.
Jorge R. Gutiérrez reflects on the backlash surrounding his AI project in a new interview with Variety:
“I thought, I’m going to make sure artists are guaranteed a seat at the table. I’m going to make sure this is driven by artists. What I quickly learned is this is a black-and-white issue. You’re pro, or you’re anti—there’s no in between right now. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. My intentions were good, but I was taking my family to hell by doing this.”
