Y'all better speak precisely when talking about southern states. The most powerful and innovative organizers have been trying to transform the region for generations. Don't turn your backs on their hard work for a cute, quippy, self-righteous put down.
The fact that any Democrat could be defeated going up against Trump says more about white America than anything else. That’s the point folks want to deflect from.
It’s amazing how the people that are ALWAYS mad at the South and Midwest each election are NEVER the ones living there, visiting there (outside of fun), or working there. Y’all are mad at the very people doing the work and experiencing the MOST harm as a result. This must stop.
Is Gastonia racist? Of course it is. It’s a city in America. It’s controlled by wannabe authoritarian absurdists. The veil is thinner here. No one paints our streets in empty symbolic gestures. Protesting here takes real guts, and Black folks risk their lives fighting for change.
I’d like to take a moment to say thanks to the protesters of Gastonia. Many have been protesting, speaking up at council meetings, and writing letters and have been met with outright hostility, violence, and ambivilant news coverage. Y’all keep speaking out and that matters.
*climbs mountain with a wall of Marshall amps behind me — screeches* Only respect/pay attention to the British monarchy if they give away every ha’penny they have stolen and start a septic tank business that never breaks even.
It’s time for my monthly social media post. Here’s what I’ve got to say: Black Lives Matter! Defund the police! Give to a bail fund (try to keep it local or direct - volunteer and protest if you can)! You can always learn and check your privledge, though.
@franzferdinand2 @IridescentSlime Oddly, I’ve haven’t been drinking much at all. What’s your rye? I have a bottle of baby Saz that I keep meaning to pop open. Maybe I’ll get shitty during tomorrow’s game?
