Can Land Barons succeed to con so many without official assistance? Before destroying “ illegal” structures it is important to nab both the Land Baron and those in the system abetting their work . Almost with classical precision victims are allowed to build and their properties demolished in Winter , how more cunning can this be ?
🔸Where was security? Why ruin this beautiful moment with crass behaviour? Shameful.
Huge congratulations to all the ladies who won. All the best.🙏🏽
We need new leaders.🇿🇼
Even Hitler had a constitution- our problem is not the constitution but it’s about leadership, if our leaders loved us, they would not treat us as enemies.
What occasions a Transitional Government that some are calling for ? I have always found the call for a transitional government highly theoretical and unrealistic because in all honesty I can’t see anyone stepping aside for such and giving away the bird in hand to the unknown .
A more practical consideration would probably be a GNU , a mirror of 2009 -2013 , even that would be preceded by a new political settlement brought about by national dialogue.
A transitional administration only kicks in when there has been a logjam or revolution in the body politic . Under the status quo it’s just wishful thinking and childish .
What incentive does the government have to share power ? A transitional government assumes many things that are not at play at the moment . Its major assumption is that there is no one with a mandate to rule anymore , is that case with Zimbabwe? If it is , who was elected by the world to be a Member of the United Nations Security Council ( UNSC) ?
The reality on the ground is the star of the government is rising while that of the alternative is disappearing? Our politics need a realistic and honest rethink .
Happy Sabbath
CJ Malaba (Rtd 21) might have saved Mnangagwa but constitutionally, he never served him. That’s why the sight of him receiving a thank-you or service gift is deeply worrisome. Justices are paid from the common purse and not from a politician’s back pocket. That’s an inflexible tenet to be jealously guarded to the last lawyer standing.
The gift is however, legally significant in that it retrospectively taints every pronouncement that has ever been made by Malaba for the benefit of Mnangagwa. That is how the law on bias operates. A court order tainted by bias will at the application of a concerned party be set aside, whatever the consequences. Bias, just like fraud, unravels everything.
So, l have seen pple claiming that a referendum run by ZEC will still be rigged so there is no reason to even push for one. I am one person who has always said elections run by the military kuperekedza muchati. There is a caveat....
The quickest happy path for Zimbabwe is a military parity. This is where the military itself is divided and cannot completely act mercilessly against itself. In that regard, instead of being used as a tool it may choose to be a bystander or both sides engage in mutual tussles. We nearly reached this point in 2008 although Gen Mujuru et al chickened out... Bhora musango played a part. Those March 2008 elections were the most peaceful elections Zimbabwe ever had.
Now, one of the reasons we formed CDF was to provide an organized platform for resistance and visibility. We also wanted to send a signal to elements within the security establishment opposed to CAB3 that civilians don't want this thing. We have war veterans and retired service members in our membership and leadership.
We have been hoping for more pple with military and security services history to come out and denounce CAB3. We were encouraged by the strong response by retired generals. This is the first time they have openly resisted ZANU PF apart from 2017. That is encouraging...
Now, a referendum where the military is divided could be the best thing that Zimbabwe needs right now. We know that they are embedded in every facet of the system and only they can stop Mnangagwa without costing civilian blood.
So, we continue to push for a referendum with the anticipation that more and more ex and current servicemen would support it either openly or clandestinely.
Therefore, a referendum where both sides are supported by a military factor may compel ZEC to act as an impartial arbiter. If however, the generals are silenced and it becomes a Mnangagwa vs ordinary pple, then there will be no need to even participate in that referendum.
In conclusion, we have to create an environment where the pple and the military elements become allies first before we even engage in a referendum. Other than that, we should not participate in a game where we are just bridesmaids....
