Helldivers fans -- we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward.

Its such a peculiar thing to be a foreign soldier fighting in the Ukrainian military. A strange mix of pride and shame. Because, while we fight, bleed, and die here (and the jury is still out on whether I'll be able to return to combat after my injury), shoulder to shoulder with our Ukrainian brothers and sisters, western governments wring their hands and preach compromise with Russia, dragging their feet and directly causing unnecessary death and suffering to these people in fear of "escalation."

Its already escalated.

There is no compromise with an opponent that wishes to restore the territory of the soviet union, who preaches the ethnic inferiority of Ukrainians, and speaks of their desire to eliminate all non russian blood.

That red devil in the east that our NATO nations feared for fifty years, and spent untold trillions preparing to fight exists once more, in the imperial ambitions of the modern Russian state. Make no mistake.

Western media is asleep. Ukraine is a footnote, pushed to the side in favor of identity politics or fearmongering about trans people, recycling nonsensical homophobic talking points from the 80s.

Western voices, content creators, the newsreaders and town criers of our generation, fall silent, content to imagine it as some far off border dispute as opposed to the exitential crisis it is, outright ignore the conflict, or fall for Russian propaganda.

All the while, they continue their hybrid information war in Western countries, jamming GPS endangering civilian aviation in the baltic sea, buying politicians and blackmailing others to implore rational westerners to push Ukraine for peace, and paying lowlifes like Hinkle to sing their traitorous praises, knowing full well their battlefield successes are measured in meters and gallons of blood. Just because bullets are not flying in your land, does not mean you are not already a target.

Avdiivka would still be held by Ukraine if Western aid hadn't been anemic for two years.

Wake up. Be vocal, or one day soon, war will come to your door. It really is that serious.

On that note, to address a vatnik talking point, both things can be true; Ukraine is, for the most part, successfully defending her land and people; but Russia is also fucking Russia. They have a callous disregard for human life on either side, and a vast store of inherited soviet hardware that can be used to visit violence on the world for years to come from their decaying state.

Ukraine continues to defend a sleeping Europe from the horrors of a 21st century continent spanning war, while you ignore it and queue up for another match, or play pretend you're a conflict veteran because you clicked on some robots.

I continue to fight for Ukraine. I remain ashamed of the west.
