The girl glanced at her mother with a slightly raised eyebrow. She didn’t mind sharing, but only certain candies.
“Mm… you can have these?” She offered a packet of Whoppers. And little bag of candy corn.

Lizzie went quiet for a long moment, biting the inside of her cheek while deep in thought. Her mind had been racing lately, worrying about the whole family.
“I dunno… I just want her to be happy. She does so much for us!”
Her nose scrunched up at the poke against it. A playful swat given to make her sister stop.
“Kathleen… do you think momma is happy?” She asked all of a sudden, facial expression turning to one of seriousness and concern.
The little blonde shoved her book aside and stretched out her legs. Her toes wiggling against the wood flooring of the treehouse.
“I like having you home. Just… not the yelling, it’s really loud.”
Lizzie merely shrugged her little shoulders. At least it wasn’t her getting in trouble— daddy could still be/sound scary when mad though, even if it wasn’t toward her.
