Temporary closure at Sandy Ridge Trail System tomorrow morning!

On Nov 14th, the system will be closed while we remove hazardous trees and ensure it is safe for bikers and hikers. We tentatively plan to open the system at 1pm!

The gentle river winds through rolling desert hills and basalt cliffs, offering excellent wildlife watching, Blue Ribbon trout fishing, and family-friendly rafting.

In late Oct., a group of young women travelled to the @BLMOregon Vale District to spend seven days training to become wildland firefighters! 👩‍🚒 The Women in Wildland Fire Bootcamp pays participants to undergo basic firefighting training and receive an intro to fire culture 🔥

Located in Baker City, NHOTIC has living history demonstrations, interpretive programs, exhibits, multi-media presentations, special events, and more than four miles of interpretive trails.

On this day in 1988, the Omnibus Oregon Wild and Scenic Rivers Act became law, protecting dozens of Oregon rivers!

Some of the rivers are well-known waterways, like the Crooked, Deschutes, and John Day. Today, we're proud to manage over 1,000 miles of wild and scenic rivers!

The site may be closed to camping for the season, but day use is open year round! Come explore beautiful forest trails and visit the cascading Alsea Falls.

A chukar partridge spotted in the lupins in the Steens Mountain Wilderness.

Originating in India, chukars were introduced to Oregon in 1951 to increase hunting opportunities. Today, it's the most harvested upland bird in Oregon, according to @MyODFW

Contrary to its name, this leopard slug doesn't mind taking things slow. Spotted on public lands just east of the Oregon Coast Range, this slug is named for its spots rather than its speed.

Leslie Gulch is a designated Area of Critical Environmental Concern. This means it's protected for its unique soils and plants, wildlife habitat, and those unbelievable rock formations.

Helicopter assisted restoration work in the watershed areas of Green River, Five Rivers and Deadwood Creek is complete. The project was designed to restore streams to a more natural flow to improve spawning and rearing habitat for coho salmon and other aquatic species.
