We’ve been closely following Iran, because it relates to every one of our lives. But far away in Africa, a devastating humanitarian crisis is unfolding—one that no one seems to care about or report on. Forty years ago, the world paid attention to famine in Africa and created the unprecedented “We Are the World.” Now, our values seem to have completely shifted: we only focus on things that directly affect us. Even humanity’s return to the Moon after fifty years has failed to capture global attention. This is a phenomenon. I’m not here to judge whether it is good or bad—I’m simply observing it and reflecting on why this is the case. https://t.co/wzv2jSFjCO
