Religion helps prevent suicide just as it helps contribute to it, as much as you don’t want to admit for some reason. And literally nothing after that comma is said in the article. It says community is a preventive, does not say fear doesn’t contribute.

Then in the conclusion they literally say “religious affiliation is protective against suicide attempts and suicide, but not suicidal ideation.” I see what you’re referencing about it contributing to suicide-

Again not saying the fear mongering is good for mental health or ethical but it undeniably stops some from committing.

And if not adding to the fear of death, what stress is religion adding that’s relevant to the topic??
