Due to the progress of our crews being ahead of schedule, the striping for the back-in angle parking on 6th St (between Walnut and Washington streets) is now planned to begin later this week, contingent on favorable weather conditions.
To improve visibility and safety for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists, the City of Bloomington is converting the on-street parking on East 6th Street between Walnut and Washington streets to back-in angle parking.

Today's tip: Be visible! Cyclists, make sure you have a working light on your bike and keep a close eye out for pedestrians. Walkers, carry a flashlight so you can be seen more easily by cyclists, and stay to the right of the path. 2/2
Bloomington’s multi-use paths are a key part of our pedestrian and cycling infrastructure. We’re sharing some multi-use path etiquette guidelines for all users to make our paths safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
Today's tip: Be visible! With sunset coming earlier and earlier, more people are using paths in the dark. Wearing light-colored and reflective clothing can make you more visible when traveling in the dark. 1/2

6. Never drive under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
7. Follow the speed limit, especially around people on the street, in school zones and in neighborhoods where children are present.
8. Be extra cautious when backing up and look for pedestrians.
4. Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks and stop well back from the crosswalk to give other vehicles an opportunity to see the crossing pedestrians so they can stop too.
5. Never pass vehicles stopped at a crosswalk. There may be people crossing where you can’t see.
