We've reverted the start-up process for Bloqbit to its state prior to Rust experimentation. To our self-hosters, you may re-enable "Always Update" (formerly "Auto-Update") to get the latest build when restarting your server.
To our self-hosters, if you already have an instance of Bloqbit running, please disable "Auto-Update" (set it to 0) or avoid reinstalling as we cannot guarantee the latest build is stable enough. We will be right back once it's all fixed up!
Over recent weeks, we've been considering and experimenting with the integration of Rust programming into Bloqbit. We aim to optimize some critical operations such as data storage and caching, to ensure a smoother user experience!
We realize this could slow down development speed, but we're confident that it will be worth it in the long run to not experience terrible slowdowns while Bloqbit experiences userbase growth.
We've migrated Bloqbit from using MongoDB to instead use MariaDB as its database model. This means faster response times, and even better long-term support for features that rely on data storage. For self-hosters, this also means a more familiar setup process!
