Why Moya must resign.
As more information has come to light the case for Moya's resignation is clear.
1. Moya and her office placed themselves at the head of oversight on regional operations in Tshwane above that of the MMC. This means she personally took political responsibility for the functioning at the water treatment plant. She must account.
Moya's plan behind this was that she would take the glory for the progress started at the Hammanskraal plant under Brink. But she soon lost interest in the project, it has significantly stalled. She hasn't been there in months.
2. On Thursday 15 October, Moya was summoned to a crisis meeting with the National Dept of Water. DWS had discovered that chlorine had not been added to the plant since 23 Sept.
They wanted a response and to share results. Moya snubbed this meeting. Never attended. Her office said they would write a report in response. It still hasn't been written.
3. So on Thursday 15 October, Moya's office was informed that the plant hadn't had chlorine for 3 weeks. Yet on Friday 16 Oct, when Moya visited the plant she said publicly it had only been one week without chlorine. She left it at that, hoping it would go away.
4. Over the weekend the situation became even more dire as more cases emerged. Such that on Monday, DWS and the Dept of Health had to basically drag Moya to a press conference where she begrudgingly took responsibility.
5. Moya's initial response to this crisis was lazy and deceitful. Had her office listened to DWS or done any due diligence they would have established this was a massive issue and acted appropriately last week already. Either they are completely incompent, or they knew more than what they gave to the public initially and were deliberately deceitful.
Either way, the case for her resignation is clear. It's untenable for her to continue in the role.
🚨 Bacary Sagna: "I broke my fibula against Tottenham, in 2011.
I was playing my best football, but unfortunately, I suffered that bad injury.
One day, right after that happened, I arrived at the training ground, and the receptionist was all flustered. She was looking left and right, all agitated, and whispering to me "Come here, come with me, please."
I was on crutches and everything, I had just arrived, so I was confused, what did she want?
She closed the door, and she handed me a letter.
I open it, and the letter is from REAL MADRID.
I looked at it. It said something like, “Dear Bacary, we are saddened to hear about your injury, and we wish you a speedy recovery,” and all that, signed by Emilio Butragueño.
You have NO IDEA how much that letter meant to me, and how it really moved me. It made me SO happy. It gave me a massive boost when I was feeling down because of the injury.
It motivated me SO MUCH.
I told myself: "Oh my God, that's Real Madrid."
I still have that letter to this day. It’s not going anywhere. That's how special that letter is to me.
I told myself: "Wow, this means Real Madrid know me, they've been monitoring me."
And I have no regrets in my career, I played for Arsenal, and I love Arsenal, but that's Real Madrid.
For them, it’s just a small gesture. But the impact it has on you, and the respect you feel towards them after that, is multiplied by 10 because of it.
It really made me want to come back on the pitch, and I did come back, actually. Then I broke my fibula again, and I came back once more.
It’s a small gesture that perhaps changed my outlook on things and gave me much more confidence."
Bronkhorspruit water - A timeline of lies and incompetence.
23 Sept - The last dose of chlorine was used in the treatment plant according to official logs.
After a few days, the water coming out the plant is no longer drinkable. No one says anything. Beginning of October people are getting sick.
7 - 18 Oct - more and more cases are reported of people getting ill. Many children.
Department of Health asks Department of Water to investigate. DWS traces it to Tshwane's Treatment plant.
15 Oct - DWS calls the Mayor and MMC for Water to a meeting after they find out there's no chlorine at the plant. Neither Mayor nor MMC attend. DWS inform city there's been no chlorine since September
16 Oct - Mayor visits plant ansld says they ran out of chlorine a week ago. (A lie, DWS told her office the day before it had been 3 weeks). She issues apologies for the inconvenience. Deploys tankers and officially says the water is not safe.
19 Oct - Press conference reveals all. For three weeks they didnt treat water with chlorine and didnt tell anyone.
This is M1 South from JHB towards Southgate mall. The Gauteng provincial government, through the City of Johannesburg made sure that all the street lights were functioning in the build up to the G20 summit in November 2025.
Not a single light is functioning right now.
Dada Morero wants to be re-elected as the Mayor in the next election.
Please, I urge the world to take this tweet seriously.
A new famine is literally being created in Gaza. Free food distribution has almost completely stopped, major aid organizations have suspended their services, and now the World Food Programme, a key source of flour and canned food for hundreds of thousands of people here, has announced the suspension of its assistance.
For over a week, trucks carrying vegetables, fruit, and frozen food have also been prevented from entering Gaza.
Food supplies are shrinking, everything entering Gaza is being tightly controlled, and food queues are growing frighteningly long.
We are already witnessing the signs of another hunger catastrophe. Families are losing their food sources one by one. Please, don't wait until people are dying of hunger again before you act. The world must act now.
"What is happening in France is gonna happen in South Africa."
Never. If anything, South Africans have demonstrated recently that they will never take their fights to those who actually make their living conditions expensive. Instead, they are good at scapegoating the weak. Complete misdirection.
Quite possibly the most surreal thing you'll read in our surreal times.
Kids face machine guns with stones so a beaten up journalist can receive help and those kids are then hunted by a terrorist army funded by the journalist's government.
A convicted killer being hugged like a victim by jacinta Ngobess.
The man in the red shirt is Wandile Nsibande. He is not a stranger. Court records show in 2009 he and three others robbed and kidnapped Kavisha Seevnarain, a 26-year-old teacher. They drove her to the uMkhomazi Bridge on the N2 South Coast and threw her off a 60-meter bridge. She died
The woman hugging him is Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, leader of March and March. Every day on social media she shouts loud about foreigners, about criminals, about how South African women are not safe, how we must protect our daughters.
And yet when the cameras come, she is hugging a man who did to a South African woman exactly what she says she is fighting against.~@Mzanziawake ~Speaks
