Ohio Republicans did everything they could to stop the amendment establishing a Constitutional right to abortion in their state.
They tried to change the threshold for passing amendments to 60% instead of a simply majority in a special August election.
It didn’t work.
They spread disinformation on the official Senate website.
That didn’t work.
Their Governor & Secretary of State went on tv shows to fear monger & manufacture truth.
That didn’t work either.
They played games with the wording on the ballot to confuse voters into thinking it was more extreme than it actually was.
And that clearly didn’t work.
In the end, Ohioans did what the GOP in their state feared they would do — they reclaimed their rights by telling the government to get the hell out of their healthcare decisions.
They won.
Despite employing every desperate, undemocratic tactic in the book, Republicans lost, and the people won.
Democracy ain’t dead.
It’s alive and kicking.
It just has to kick harder these days.
And Ohio sure does have one helluva kick.
