Labour knew these changes would hit pubs, hotels and cafes - and pushed ahead anyway. Now they pretend they didn't understand the consequences.
Over 2,000 hospitality venues at risk - with business rates UP by 115% for some businesses over the next few years. And Labour still dithers.
Temporary fixes won't save our high streets - only permanent business rate cuts will.
A future @Conservatives government will cut business rates for thousands and back our high streets.
My words in today's @TheSun 👇🏼
More evidence that the UK economy began the New Year on the brink of recession...
"It was a drab Christmas for retailers, as sales growth slowed for the fourth consecutive month" (@the_brc)

Unemployment beginning to rise as it does during a Labour government. Inflation and interest rates will likely move in the wrong direction as they usually do under a Labour government
Last night, Labour MPs voted to increase your taxes.
They voted to put party before country and break their manifesto promise not to raise taxes, because Keir Starmer hasn’t got the backbone to control welfare spending.
Labour never learn they blighted North Swindon with poor parking last time they were in power. Now they will do it again to new developments . Here we go again. Redhouse and oakhurst 2. Motorists face new parking space ban https://t.co/6ZAENHDs8a
Labour councillors voting to increase their pay, slashing core services and so short on funds they are having to borrow from other councils to cover day-to-day costs and now failing to pay money it owes. Well done Labour, well done.

This Tory Party conference has set out a positive & fiscally responsible Conservative vision for the future.
A future Tory government would cut the size of the state & bring welfare under control while boosting our high streets & abolishing stamp duty to help grow the economy!
This is a cynical ploy to cling onto party members and core Conservatives voters. Some will be taken in.
If they thought this was the right thing to do, wouldn’t they have done it at any time over the past 14 years or just before the general election?
Won’t ever happen….
Badenoch's speech completely detached from reality with no mention of protecting our communities from the climate crisis - particularly in light of her party’s plans to scrap the Climate Change Act and throw away Britain's progress on preventing climate breakdown
** My analysis on the Conservative party conference **
Finally after a year of waiting, Kemi Badenoch has given her party a slate of policies to make the case for the Conservatives.
It was the best speech by a Tory leader I have heard for years. Nigel Farage and Reform UK were mentioned just once as she sought to concentrate on setting her stall for her party.
Her supporters in the hall loved it and left the party's conference with a spring in their step, helped in part by her conviction and confident delivery.
The real battle is outside. The new policies on stamp duty, ECHR, policing and net zero will win her support among those who are paying attention.
But the rest of the electorate might shrug their shoulders and ask why the Tories didn't introduce these measures during their 14 years in power? And how they can be trusted to do so if they win the next election?
This question of trust remains unanswered by the Tories. But for the first time since Labour's landslide at general election in July last year, the Conservative party is back in the hunt for voters. And that for them is a start. More coverage and analysis on @GBNEWS.
A fantastic speech from @kemibadenoch to close out our conference with real, impactful, thought-through policies.
Defining who we are as a party and laying out our policy platform and direction of travel is exactly what this conference set out to deliver.
I can see @Conservatives trying to absurdly reinvent themselves on economy.
The public still living through the cost of living crisis Truss catalysed; the ripple effects of a botched Brexit and public services left after austerity went wrong.
Six chancellors in five years.
The Conservatives haven't learnt anything from the economy-crashing days of Liz Truss. They should be apologising, not peddling the same fantasy economics. The Tories simply can't be trusted.
Just a few days ago, Kemi Badenoch proved her knowledge of Northern Irish politics was patchy at best.
Now we're supposed to believe she's capable of renegotiating the Good Friday Agreement after pulling the UK out of the ECHR...
