Terribly sad to hear about the passing of original #CBJ broadcaster Billy Davidge. In my days of working at CD101, Bill was nothing but good to me and everyone I worked with. He had a reputation as a great all-around guy — and he was even better than that.
May he rest in peace.
Don’t let the internet trolls tell you otherwise: this was a good extension for the Blue Jackets.
The #CBJ needed to retain Charlie Coyle for a myriad of reasons.
Four years would’ve been better, sure. But six years is better than zero.
Charlie Coyle is staying with the Blue Jackets for the (really) long-haul. Despite the length of the contract, the #CBJ made the right move. https://t.co/9Biamuk8XU
When asked if Waddell was talking with other UFA’s, he said: “No, we will start talking with everybody on (that front) here in the next little bit.”
Added that he’s scheduled some meetings with some of the RFA’s agents during the combine.
Quite clear that Coyle was Item A. #CBJ
BREAKING: The #CBJ have signed veteran forward Charlie Coyle to a six-year, $36 million contract ($6 million average annual value) through the 2031-32 season.
"I wanted them to go home and be uncomfortable": #CBJ head coach Rick Bowness joined the @NHL_On_TNT crew Sunday and made additional comments on his end-of-season rant. https://t.co/NgFaklY4pa
IT. IS. HAPPENING.
The 18th @NWSL franchise will be in Columbus! The yet-to-be-named team will start play in 2028.
The Haslam Sports Group is paying a record $205 million dollar expansion fee for the team. #NWSLtoCBUS
Rick Bowness is coming back to “change the culture”.
I asked Ivan Provorov on Wednesday if that was needed. His response.
(The first three questions
— not four — were (a) if he agreed with the message, (b) if it was surprising, and (c) if there’s less heat playing w/#CBJ.)
A lot has happened in the last two days. You know what Bones said. You likely know by now he’s coming back.
Here are a few takeaways from today’s presser. #CBJ
The #CBJ announced Thursday that Rick Bowness will return as head coach next season. Here are five quotes from the press conference — and what they might mean for the future. https://t.co/Q8SFvAMItY
The #CBJ are locked into their lottery spot and are in no man’s land.
They will have a 94.7% of selecting 14th. There’s a 2.1% chance it slips to 15th.
If they “win” the lottery (3.2% chance), they will move up to 4th.
More from Sevo: "I would say my season really took off when the coaching change happen."
Acknowledged his struggles early on with #CBJ but felt like he really put it together and got back to his game this season.
(And he's right — Severson was great for this team this season.)
Damon Severson on the struggles down the stretch: "It had nothing to do with me going down (with an injury), but I feel like I had a solid season overall and was helping the team."
"It's hard, because I don't think we should be going home today." #CBJ
