That moment when you discover that you while you enjoy all styles of fly fishing, you love #flyfishingfortrout more. Got a chance to float the New River in VA yesterday with some friends and had a great time and caught #smallmouthbass, but I will always prioritize #nativetrout
What is better for #flyfishing small streams? Rod & Reel or #tenkara? My answer and a story in my latest edition of my blog ”Guidewaters”

There is no hope for real change and improvement without the understanding of the need to be able to focus on what is #essential. #personaldevelopment#coaching
Essentialism by Greg McKeown is required reading before I will commit to #coaching with a prospective client. Why? Because all my clients are #businessowners and most of them are #financialadvisors.
How does this work? I ask the potential client to read the book and then we schedule a call/zoom to see what they thought of it. The value for them is that they and I will know, without a doubt, that if they don't like the book we should NOT #coach together.
You need to go to the water for the fish just like you need to go to your relationships for the referrals. Stay tuned tomorrow for my weekly newsletter 'Can I Borrow Your Car?' where I will be talking about the right kind of 'bait' and/or 'lure' to get the referrals you want
One thing that #flyfishing and #referrals share is that you need to go to them. The fish aren't usually going to come out of the water and the same can be said of referrals generally. The great things about referrals is that they do appear spontaneously from time to time.
• Spend some time thinking/researching (Facebook) who they already know that you want to meet.
• Challenge yourself to think of very easy and frictionless ways you can be introduced (think social, sport, event, etc.)
