Live Oaks Community Church in The Villages, Florida is searching for a strategic and relational Director of Engagement (Executive Director of Discipleship) to help people move from attending church to belonging, growing, serving, and making a difference.

This senior leadership role will oversee the church’s Discipleship Pathway, provide leadership to 70+ small groups, and contribute to the teaching team through preaching approximately 20% of the year.

With more than 2,000 people calling Live Oaks home and an average weekly attendance of 1,500 across campuses, this is a significant opportunity for a biblically grounded leader who loves people, develops teams, and believes deeply in the spiritual fruitfulness of senior adults.

Live Oaks is looking for a shepherd-strategist who can strengthen pathways, equip leaders, and help a growing church continue building a culture of discipleship and engagement.

Church Hiring 101: Chemistry and Culture now top the list.

Traditionally, churches prioritized education and experience at the top, followed by skills, and expected (or hoped!) that candidates would naturally align with the team’s culture and chemistry. Now, those criteria have reversed. In today’s ministry hiring, cultural fit and team chemistry come first.

The new hiring order:
1. Chemistry and Cultural
2. Competence and Capacity
3. Education and Experience

Now more than ever, hiring teams are asking: Will this candidate thrive in our culture? Is there strong team chemistry?
