@JordenCollins @FloridScott @bethallisonbarr @Pastakeith Paul was also a human who was severely limited by a culture and mindset that treated women as property, who probably never imagined a world where women would be educated and elected by entire nations as heads of state. His cultural limitations should inform our understanding.

@JordenCollins @FloridScott @bethallisonbarr @Pastakeith So you *do* cover your head in prayer and make the case that all women should as well? You *do* believe and make the case that men should keep their hair short? With equal strength? 1 Corinthians is as “clear” as 1 Timothy 2.

@JordenCollins @FloridScott @bethallisonbarr @Pastakeith Because he’s closed to the Spirit of God regardless. That’s the actual issue, not the gender of the person who’s speaking the truth. Artificially limiting women because of Paul’s statement of personal practice works against the Spirit and the Bible’s story of empowered women.

@JordenCollins @FloridScott @bethallisonbarr @Pastakeith And all of Paul’s writing also includes personal preferences and expressions because they are letters of a man. Do you argue as intently with equal value and that women should cover their heads and men must keep short hair?

@JordenCollins @FloridScott @bethallisonbarr @Pastakeith No husband who doesn’t attend will be open to anyone telling him what’s wrong with his life without open ears and heart. The Holy Spirit does that part, and Spirit can and does speak through women. Your premise artificially diminishes the work of the Spirit in the lives of men.

@FloridScott @JordenCollins @bethallisonbarr @Pastakeith I don’t find women-led churches or church boards to be oriented toward women. In my experience, they are oriented toward everyone, which is the whole concept of Gal. 3:28. Paul starts the 1 Timothy passage with an “I” as well, his own personal opinion and preference.

@JordenCollins @FloridScott @bethallisonbarr @Pastakeith I have not found this to be the case. I have found women pastors and elders to be inspiring, challenging, passionate, encouraging, compassionate and understanding. Alienation is not something I have experienced or felt with female pastors.

@lyzl King bed, headboard, matching nightstands and dressers, mattress cover, fitted sheet, bottom sheet, flat sheet, lightly weighted blanket, colorful comforter (that I rarely use), 5-6 pillows (I only use 1) - and yes, I wash the sheets and pillowcases regularly

@iproposethis @patrickbcumming But is use of a word appropriative simply because its etymology doesn’t trace to your personal culture? Magic and alchemy came from Greek and Arabic through French. Anonymous, entrepreneur, guru, safari, wanderlust all came from other cultures and language. Why concern then here?
