What SIR has actually done to country’s voter rolls because the pattern is too consistent to be an accident.

🔹 Maharashtra: The SIR exercise led to a 21% reduction in voters on the rolls over a 5th of the electorate wiped out in a single revision.

🔹 Delhi: Even sharper 32-33% of voters removed. That’s roughly 1 in 3 voters gone before a single vote is cast.

🔹 West Bengal: Ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections EC’s SIR process deleted nearly 91 lakh names from the rolls combining 63 lakh earlier deletions with another 27 lakh voters declared ineligible after hasty adjudication.
Opposition leaders and civil society groups flagged that many deletions came without proper notice or hearing, and legal challenges over the process reached the Supreme Court.

The common thread? Every one of these revisions lands in a state where the results matter to BJP & every time, the deletions happen in the run up to elections not after, not as routine maintenance, but exactly when it can shape outcomes.

EC calls this cleaning the rolls. But when the cleaning consistently removes a 5th to a 3rd of voters, disproportionately affects certain communities & always arrives right before polling it stops looking like housekeeping & starts looking like design.

Free and fair elections start with who gets to vote. If the list itself is being quietly rewritten state by state, the advance preview of 2029 is a mere joke or it’s a warning.
