From 2 second blocks to 200ms canonical blocks with Denim π³.
A major milestone for faster onchain experiences.
Now is the time for builders preparing to launch on @base Sepolia, to review RPC polling, confirmation logic, smart contracts, transaction indexing and API limits
Denim is the 4th hard fork on @Base, hitting Sepolia on Oct 21 and featuring 200ms blocks. π
This follows 3 hard forks in 125 days:
1/ Azul (May 28) set up the Base stack with multiproofs
2/ Beryl (Jun 25) launched B20 tokens + set up tokenized equities ($3.99B DEX volume)
3/ Cobalt (Sep 30) shipped validity txs for better search (4M+ so far)
A few years ago, if someone had shown me the mathematical models and logic required to translate a player's performance on the pitch into onchain value, I would have struggled to comprehend the possibilities π.
Today, I'm actually building around that very concept on @FutballFi
@Okwachjamal@dhanyindraswara You getting it wrong bro. Its no magic. There some stuffs they will see and take you. You win some.. You lose some. I got rejected for Google for Startup / Antlers. Not that what I was buiidoing wasn't good but sometimes the number of applicants are way too much. Heads up
One lesson from Web3 sports:
Putting a token around an existing fan experience doesn't automatically create a better product.
The product has to be useful without the speculation.
The technology should improve ownership, participation, access or coordination.
Otherwise, the blockchain is just the headline.
That's not where I think the future is.
Football is becoming increasingly data driven.
Computer vision can identify events.
AI can analyse patterns.
Analytics can quantify performance.
Blockchain can verify and coordinate ownership.
The technologies are developing separately.
The next generation of sports products will increasingly connect them.
AI will change football.
But I don't think the biggest opportunity is simply generating better match summaries.
The bigger opportunity is turning the enormous amount of football data being generated every day into intelligent, actionable infrastructure.
AI can interpret the data.
Onchain systems can make the resulting actions programmable.
Now that's an interesting combination.
One thing I find fascinating about football:
A player's performance can change their perceived value within 90 minutes.
A striker scores twice.
A goalkeeper makes 8 saves.
A midfielder creates 3 chances.
The information changes immediately.
But most financial infrastructure around football doesn't move at the same speed.
That disconnect is worth exploring.
The football economy is much bigger than matchday.
There is an enormous layer underneath every game:
Player data.
Scouting.
Transfers.
Media.
Sponsorship.
Fan attention.
Collectibles.
Digital identity.
Financial participation.
Most products attack one piece.
The interesting opportunity is connecting them.
