Gary, Indiana doesn’t have power for the same reason Flint, Michigan didn’t have clean water, for the same reason Jackson, Mississippi hasn’t gotten state funds for necessary infrastructure improvements.
Gary, Indiana is 76% Black.
Flint, Michigan is 57% Black.
Jackson, Mississippi is 82% Black.
It really isn’t that hard to figure out.
Mamdani was criticized for not wearing a helmet when riding a bike in NYC. Mamdani listened and told those criticizing him that they were right and he needs to do better. He bought a new helmet and posted “I’m listening and learning”. People were so impressed to be told that they were right and that a politician would publicly admit they were right. One guy said “First in my bloodline to hear a politician say ‘you’re right, I’ve got to do better,’” one commenter wrote. “I honestly feel like witnessing a politician simply say ‘you’re right, I’ve gotta do better’ just healed something within me. It’s so easy to do and yet SO FEW PEOPLE (not just politicians) have the humility to do it,” said another.
Mamdani continues to impress with his willingness to make the people a priority.
Angie Nixon Just Gave Democrats a Lesson in Fighting Back
“If wanting your neighbor to afford their insulin is radical, then call me a radical.
“If believing a mother shouldn’t have to work three jobs to keep a roof over her family’s head is extreme, then call me extreme.”
Nixon was outspent roughly 16 to 1 and still won Florida’s Democratic Senate primary by 12 points.
Then she looked directly toward November:
“Ashley Moody can call us whatever she wants. But in November, she will call me Senator.”
This is what fighting for working people sounds like.
While we talk about the 4th anniversary of She-Hulk and how great Tatiana was in the role, can we spread the word about this pro-Palestinian documentary she is promoting too, please? It deserves more attention!
FLASHBACK — @AngieNixon grabbed a Tennessee Three-style bullhorn to protest Florida’s unconstitutional seat-stealing redistricting
Now she’s the Democratic nominee for U.S. senate
Bottom line: The people want fighters
I know no one will care, but I've lost hope in the world. Despite what I've explained to you about the situation in Gaza, there's no one to care. When we die, remember that I was sharing my suffering and no one cared.
The Detroit News calling Jake Lang an “activist” is like calling a Klansman a civil rights organizer. Lang is a Jan. 6 rioter who openly promotes anti-Muslim hatred & repeatedly targeted Dearborn. News outlets shouldn’t sanitize extremists with language that lends them legitimacy
Considering what she achieved in this David versus Goliath victory, Angie Nixon should have at least 100k followers TONIGHT.
Don't play with me, America politicos.
Angie Nixon is the story of the primaries. 16 to 1 financial advatage along with the full establishment,
a Black woman, for whom the state is well aware of, stood up to the Democratic Establishment machine, and with the help of some friends including but not limited to DSA,
Angie Nixon just pulled off the greatest political upset in recent political history.
Against the Vindmans!?!? (And yall both know I love and respect you two, no harm no foul).
🚨BREAKING: Pro-Palestine progressive Angie Nixon has defeated Alex Vindman to win the Florida Democratic Senate primary.
Despite being massively outspent, she pulled off the upset.
Donald Trump is OFFICIALLY a rapist.
His FINAL appeal in his sexual assault case has been DENIED.
He is now the first President in U.S. History to be found liable for sexual assault.
What a disgrace.
Detroit Jewish community member here ✋
I’m proudly voting for Abdul -precisely because I love my people. There can be no peace if we continue to fund Israel’s genocidal rampage and Abdul remains the only candidate in the race committed to peace
The people of Dearborn have the right to the same dignity, respect, and safety as all other Michiganders. The Islamophobic provocateurs are coming today to disrupt and endanger people in a community they have no intention of understanding. I stand with the leaders and residents of Dearborn in the face of this agitation and will continue working every day to make sure everyone in Michigan is safe, supported, respected, and protected.
