Death doesn’t warn you.
The people you love are going to die and so are you and the whole arrangement is designed so that you never get enough warning to prepare for it properly.
You think you’ll get a moment. A last conversation, a chance to say the real thing instead of the small talk you’ve been hiding behind for years. Most people don’t get that. The last time you talk to someone is usually just an ordinary Tuesday and neither of you knows it’s the last one, so you waste it on nothing and then it’s the only thing you have left of them.
That’s the cruelty of it. Not the dying itself, but the not knowing which moment is the one you should have paid attention to.
One of the reasons we might never get here in Nigeria is we don't pay attention to details, funding and lack of services
If you're a movie enthusiast like myself, you'd know that CGI, Green screen and more are important in brining these scenes to life
You'd hear studios like WETA, ILM, Digital Domain etc that have tons of people that create iconic CGI and were behind movies like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings. A huge amount goes into these sci fi productions.
But in Nigeria do we have studios that are ready to be given such big budget green light?..
Another issue is we don't pay attentions to details. You'd watch a movie and hear statements like we spent years studying this before creating just that one scene...eg
The creators that made FROZEN, they travelled to ICELAND and spent months studying how Ice reflects light, their knowledge helped them create the realistic ice in the movie.
Andy Serkis who played Gollum and the Ape in the Rise of the Apes.
The team spent months visiting zoos seeing how animals move. Act and react and infused all of that into motion capture.
In Nigeria. They can use 3 weeks to shoot a movie.
You'd just see the lack of depth and intentionality.
If we will have flicks like these we need to rework our movie industry
Driving home, 2011. Checkpoint. Drunk policeman.
3 gun shots, one bullet punched through my car boot into my right hand.
That hand once edit, animated, paid bills and fed my family. Overnight it became dead weight.
Career gone. Marriage cracked. Mind still bleeding daily.I sued the Nigeria Police.
2015: Federal High Court ordered them to fund reconstructive surgery to restore my life.
Eleven years later: zero naira, zero apology, zero accountability.
I still can’t fully use the hand they destroyed. Still begging strangers so I don’t lose it forever.
The Nigeria Police that shot me ignores the court. Who protects the rest of us?

In this life, sha, don’t let anybody rush you.
At 33, with a first-class degree, I was still sleeping on my parents’ couch in Ebute Metta, trying to figure life out.
I didn’t get my dream job until I was 36. I got married at 35 and started married life in a room and parlour tiny rooms in Mushin.
I started a business at 38 and failed woefully.
I tried again in my 40s. Failed again.
At 46, I opened an art gallery at Adeniran Ogunsanya, Lagos. It failed too.
At 47, I returned to the yoghurt business. Failed again.
At 48, we started again.
Then, at almost 50, I was compulsorily retired from my job.
Instead of seeing it as the end, I went fully into the yoghurt business.
I relocated to the UK at almost 52.
By 54, we had recorded over ₦2 billion in sales.
So please, be inspired by other people’s success, but never allow their success to put you under pressure.
Some people bloom at 25.
Some at 35.
Some at 50.
Some even later.
Your timeline is different.
Keep learning.
Keep trying.
Keep failing forward.
Keep moving.
You are not late. You are still writing your story.
Good evening.😊
Inside danfo this morning, the bus fare was 800 Naira. The woman beside me stretched 700 Naira to the conductor who rejected it immediately with “e gba owo yin pada jare. 800 ni moto”.
The woman replied “na 700 I get my brother, no vex, my uncle”
He didn’t let her land as he had already shifted attention to other passengers. He still replied “mama, mio gbo pa. E fun mi ni 800 mi. Eyin le nra epo si moto fun mi ni?”
The woman kept begging, he also insisted on his full 800 naira while insulting her. The insults were getting to me and since I already gave him 1k and my 200 Naira change was with him, I said “condor, remove her remaining 100 Naira from my change, give me 100”.
The woman looked at me with bad left eye reading “talo ran werey eleyi nise”. She didn’t even let me read meaning to her eyes finish before she shouted “uncle, don’t pay for me. I didn’t ask for your money. Because of 100 Naira, he has insulted me enough and you still want to pay him. Didn’t you hear all the insults? Lai lai. If he can’t accept abeg, he should getaway”.
I looked at the condor, “alaye, 200 naira mi da?” He gave me my money and requested that 700 naira from her. She said “never. Upon all the insults wey you give me? If I pay you 700 after those insults, make I die”.
The conductor started shouting and ready to drag her down at the next bus stop but he no fit. She said that the insults have reduced the money to 500 Naira and she stretched the 500 to him. I was just laughing. I have never seen monetized insults before.
Another passenger now added that what if the conductor start praying for her, will he get his money back? She said “Yes, he should work for his balance”.
I swear, this guy prayed for her from Anthony to Onipanu to collect his 200 Naira.
@guzzpoch@Wizarab10 It is not by how far, but how well
