From North Mecklenburg to Duke to Minnesota, the journey continues for Isaiah Evans

After two seasons playing for Jon Scheyer in Durham, All-ACC wing Isaiah Evans will join the Minnesota Timberwolves after being selected with the 33rd pick in the second round of Wednesday's 2026 NBA Draft. The original pick was made by the Brooklyn Nets, but a proposed trade sends Evans to Minnesota.

Southern Lee grinded its way to a first NCHSAA team title in any sport with a Game 3 win over South Caldwell. The Cavaliers take home the 6A championship with a 12-2 score in five innings as Drew Patton is named MVP of the series.

A decade-long wait has ended. Marvin Ridge baseball is a champion once again.

For the first time since going back-to-back in 2015 and 2016, the Mavericks have climbed the ladder of NCHSAA baseball, winning the 7A championship with a 6-2 victory over Holly Springs in Game 3. The Mavericks were led by series MVP Alex Hampton.

Since its founding in 2006, Roxboro Community School had never produced a state championship team in any sport — not until today at least.

The Bulldog softball team (25-4) grew with each game of the 2A state championship series and closed with a 10-2 win in Game 3 to capture the 2026 NCHSAA 2A softball state championship.
